Balochistan Introduces Subsidized Electric Scooters for Students and Working Women

The Balochistan government, in collaboration with the National Bank of Pakistan, has launched a subsidized electric scooter scheme aimed at providing affordable transport to students, working women, and the general public.

The agreement was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta. The signing ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Provincial Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani, senior government officials, and representatives of the National Bank of Pakistan.

Chief Minister Bugti said the initiative is designed to ease daily commuting challenges, especially for female workers and students who often face mobility issues. He added that offering scooters on easy installment plans will make safe and reliable transport more accessible.

He highlighted that the scheme also promotes environmentally friendly electric vehicles, helping reduce fuel costs and pollution. According to the chief minister, the project reflects the provincial government’s commitment to public welfare and sustainable development.

Bugti further said the Balochistan government will continue introducing practical, people-focused initiatives that support women, youth, and long-term social and economic progress across the province.
